Hi, I’m Caitlan
Don’t let my amazingly posh eyebrows fool you, I’m a writer.
I grew up in a special place in the U.S. where the Midwest meets the South, where a gas station 32oz fountain soda is a tradition as ingrained as the morning espresso en France.
I thought, “There must be more to this redneck life,” so I went abroad for over 10 years to embarrass myself in other languages. I’ve been kicking it in Costa Rica with the caimans and coffee since 2013.
But all roads lead to home. The things I left behind are my favorite things to write about. Go figure.
This blog is my Midwestern David Sedaris experiment. When I’m not writing about the land that industry forgot and my loveable cattle farming, raccoon-hunting kin, I write about my daring adventures on the high seas! Jk, my travel writing is just as ridiculous.
In my life as a “professional”: It’s been a weird journey from waitress to archaeology lab to EFL teacher to academy coordinator to HR, *takes breath*, to translator to small business owner to writer. I love living micro lives. Highly recommend. Do all the things.
As long as the job doesn’t require me to be active on LinkedIn, I’m golden. If reincarnation is real and I have to live a thousand more lives, I hope I don’t have to be active on LinkedIn in any of them.
